DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd The Lord is my Shpeherd I shall not want He makes me down to lie In pastures green He leadeth me The quiet waters by He guides me in paths of righteousness Gently restoring my soul Renewing my strength every step of the way Redemption His purpose and goal And though I should walk Through the shadow of death My heart need not falter nor fear Your rod and your staff offer comfort to me I know that Your presence is near You prepare a table, a feast for me In the presence of all my foes Anointing my head, my head with oil My cup, it overflows Surely Your goodness and bountiful love Will follow me all of my days And I will dwell in the House of the Lord all the days, all the days of my life And I will dwell in the House of the Lord all the days, all the days of my life
