Don't Judge, Just Love

Mom, Grandmom, dog mom, teacher, songwriter, artist
I grew up in a Catholic household and attended church and religious instruction regularly as a child and young adult. I learned all of the doctrine, but never fully understood it; my heart and mind were closed to the wonderful possibilities that a relationship with Jesus would offer. As an adult, I grew away from the church and professed not to believe "all of that nonsense". Upon hearing this, God must have been chuckling to Himself, because he had a plan for me, and He knew that it would change my life and my beliefs profoundly. I grew increasingly restless over the years and knew that something was missing in my life, but didn't quite know what. After many years as a disenfranchised Catholic, a series of events led me on my own path to enlightenment. The first was the death of a relative and attendance at his funeral, which was held in the Catholic church near my house, a church I had never attended. Something touched me that day; the elderly pastor seemed to speak to me directly in his homily. Never before had I experienced the desire to hear more from a priest the way I did that day. I started to attend mass regularly, and began to hear God speak to me through this wonderful priest's sermons. Some weeks it was as if he had looked directly into my heart and found the most troubling and perplexing thoughts, then addressed them as if I was the only person present. I couldn't wait to go to mass to hear God's message to me. From that point, I was led on more diverse pathways that enabled me to praise and serve Him, including joining the church choir, which has further opened my heart to His holy word and His intentions for me. Writing music has been a natural extension of my background as a singer in combination with my experiences with my church and choir. This, for me, is my little ministry, a way to reach others with His marvelous word. I praise God for His goodness and mercy; I thank Him for blessing me so abundantly; I offer my little songs for His glory.

Lyrics
DON’T JUDGE, JUST LOVE Verse 1 Have you ever said that someone dresses strange Have you made an acquaintance but you can’t pronounce their name If the language that they speak is not the same as you What do you do What should you do Chorus Go and read the words of Jesus Take that Good Book off the shelf Find the page where He says to love your neighbor as yourself Not a single one of us is better than anybody else So don’t judge, just love Verse 2 If someone lives a life unlike your own Or circumstance has left them with a park bench as their home Are you among the first to throw a stone or two What do you do What should you do (Chorus) Bridge To others do as you would have them do to you Be caring gracious generous and true Respect is not a one way street my friend You are loved is the only message we should send Verse 3 Many others worship differently And there are some who struggle with their own identity But each is still a child of God like me and you What do you do what should you do Final chorus Go and read the words of Jesus Take that Good Book off the shelf Find the page where He says to love your neighbor as yourself Not a single one of us is better than anybody else So don’t judge, just love love love So don’t judge, just love
