A song about the things that divide us
change climate
Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
I wanted to write a song about how people are divided - particularly in the USA between pro and anti Trump factions, but also how people can't even agree on basic science, basic facts.. the phenomenon of 'alternative facts' and the 'post truth' world.. and how these divisions are hindering action on things like climate change. How can we overcome and heal such divisions?
Lyrics
What can we talk about if words get in the way? Are we so far apart there's nothing left to say? If we can't even agree that two and one make three Well hey! Let's take a walk outside and look up at the stars Before we start again on all those things that divide us What are you and me in all eternity? Well hey! We can't go back, but can we forgive? And if we can't forgive, how can we live? The weather's been so strange - everything's changed There's too much sun, then too much rain And if we don't know why before the oceans die Well hey! We're driving way too fast - pedal to the floor Too much is never enough. We just want more and more And if we run out of time and that's the end of all mankind Well hey! We can't go back, but can we forgive? And if we can't forgive, how can we live? How can we live? How can we live?
