Story behind the song
Where a lust for gold can lead a guilt-laden heart
Lyrics
HE ROWS ON (NOSTROMO’S SONG) He rows on in a gold-laden boat, Alone with his guilt-laden heart. Leaving behind no clue or a note; No reason he had to depart. Oh, what has befallen This fair young fellow Who once fought time to a tie? We keep on callin’, Get back no hello, No echo of a goodbye. He rows on across the sea of life To that far, dark, desolate shore. Leaving behind a child and a wife, And a future he’ll see nevermore. Oh, what has befallen This fair young fellow Who once fought time to a tie? We keep on callin’, Get back no hello, No echo of a goodbye. He rows on to avoid being caught, Averting his gaze from his treasure. Leaving behind what cannot be bought – All the things that once gave him pleasure. Oh, what has befallen This fair young fellow Who once fought time to a tie? We keep on callin’, Get back no hello, No echo of a goodbye. He rows on in the now bitter cold; Then stops and steps into the water. Leaving behind his craft and his gold, His life, his wife, and his daughter. Copyright © 2019 Lex Zaleta
