New band name for my one man band. The ancient form of my first name.
My name is Holger Luth. I was about 15 years old, when I got my first guitar. Actually it belonged to an older friend, but the never played it, so he let me borrow it.
I had been taking piano lessons earlier, but I hated it. The most fun I had with the piano, was to create my own little tunes. i was no good at repetitive rehearsing.
It has been the same with my guitar playing. Many of my guitar playing friends, spent hours rehearsing technical stuff. I never had the patience for that, I just did what I thought sounded right. My mind was more directed towards songwriting, than towards being the guitar hero, though I did like to play neverending live solos, long enough to make the bass player make puking sounds and the drummer start throwing sticks at me...
I played in both small and larger bands with up to 8-9 people, with violins, flutes and lots of other instruments, but I think my best time in a band, was playing in a three piece. It was in the aftermath of Police, British New Wave, the Danish Punk scene, Danish songwriters like C.V. Jorgensen and many more. You had to invent a lot of new "big" chords, in order to create a bigger sound, being the only guitarist ( and lead singer).
Later I started listening a lot to bands like U2, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk and most of all Peter Gabriel. Peter is like my guiding star. I have had the luck of seeing him in concert a couple of times in the recent years and even if he has gained a few pounds and is called "Papa Bear" by his bass player, he can still sing better than anyone I know. His voice is directly wired to his heart, it's like every word has its' own set of wings and flies out of his mouth, carrying an important message. Wish I could get anywhere near that!
My musical taste has developed over the years and I try out a lot of different genres, out of curiosity and because I get inspired by other musicians, here on SC and by other friends in music.
I have 3 sons, that are all engaged in music somehow and they have also inspired me a lot. They have a totally different take on the term "Musician", than I have and I find it inspiring and I am amazed at the multifaceted way they can tackle the tasks of a songwriter, producer and musician.
I must admit, that my music sounds a little old fashioned compared to music of today, but what the heck.. I am from 1957, I grew up with Beatles, Stones, Kinks, The Who, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Bob Dylan.. need I say more?

Wonderful control and mix of those synths with the classical, never overly electronic and never overly synthetic, this creates a powerful song and mood mixing the old and the new. Nice creative stuff (as always).

Greetings,
I haven't been around here in a while, sorry!
Well this is something different from you, I like it a lot, the texture and sounds of the instrumentation is cool. The acoustic (?) guitar solo is very nice too, as is your vocal.
Good work my friend :)!

It's like hearing an unknown track from early'Genesis' in the 70's! Like the guitarwork both electric and classical guitar-runs(Very good)!
Noticed d.bill also had that P.Gabriel feel to it.
Well Done Holger!

Eerie, original, we expect the unexpected from you but with an unmistakable style, your voice is quite unique, very affecting as is the music, top marks from me.

There are nice vibes here for my ear - some peculiar mix of light and tension in the same time. Synth pads, acoustics and FXs sound very organic.

Very interesting mix of tonal textures and instruments. The swirling synth pads were cool and imparted a dreamlike aura. Liked the neat classical guitar lead. Vocal effects fit well. Getting closure to a prior start is always a good feeling, especially when it comes out as well as this did. Good tune Holger... and thanks for keeping the music alive for all of us.

Hints of Peter Gabriel right out of the gate. I like the slightly unconventional sounds that give this real personality. Too often we all fall into the same old patterns of what instruments and sounds are "supposed" to be used to make a song. The classical guitar over synthetic backing is particularly effective.

It's always cool to finish up old songs and you've done a great job with this one, Holger. It sounds like your vocals are very compressed but still sound fine for this song and the music is great, as always. Nice work!

Thanks for the info about the opening chord, I was intrigued by what you were using when I heard it. This song grabbed me right away, it's unusual (in a good way) & got me wondering which direction it would take. The arrangement kept me hooked. I would agree with Michael when he says "compelling". Excellent stuff.

Quite an interesting electronic pop rock ballad Holger. Kind of laid back, but the instrument arrangement keeps the listener intrigued. An older idea with a bit of futuristic flare - the swirling pads were cool ;)

Interesting harmonic content with a very creative use of effects on the vocals. The 1st guitar solo laying back behind the beat works really well. Really different sounding creative track Holger. Fantastic writing and playing. Enjoyed a lot.

wonderful tension is created by the vocal following the bass while the pads hit an airy discord that melts away with the next chord, very intriguing and compelling tune Holger!
Great song, kind of reminds me of switchfoot , extremely well done!
