Where Have You Been All My Life (Merseybeat Style)

I recently heard a version of this song by Arthur Alexander on Lisa Tarbuck's Saturday night radio show on BBC Radio 2. It's a song that most of the 'Merseybeat' bands played at the time...including The Beatles. This is my tribute to them all.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
When I heard Arthur Alexander's version of this song recently on the radio, I liked it straight away because it took me back to when I listened to similar things on Radio Luxenberg and later on to Pirate Radio ... Radio 270 Radio Scarborough. Such happy memories. It's a great song. By the way, the photo I've used is of Brigit Bardot, one of John Lennon's early teenage crushes.

Wow, your vocals are sensational. Great harmonies!!!!! Your style of Guitar work is magnificent. Perfect song structure and excellent production and soundwork. As, I listen to your songs, I can see that Rodrica is correct....You and Tony sure have captured the Brit Pop/Beatles style on that collaboration. Brilliant work on all songs.

Mersey Sound for sure! Pure nostalgia, that brings back memories of the 1960's. It was a Magic time and you sure captured the freshness and the innocence of that period!

Hi David, I am not familiar with this song but I sure do recognize the sound. Excellent cover. I agree with Roz on the accent. The drums and guitar are nailed right from the period. Maybe you need to book yourself at the new Cavern Club. LOL P.S. Went out and listened to Arthur Alexander, Beatles and Gerry/pacemakers. Beatles was a star club recording so not fair to judge them. I did like your version and Gerry Pacemakers version the best. You really did this justice. Excellent.

You do these kind of songs so well David. What a lot of ppl forget with Merseybeat songs is the Northern accent...and I can hear it in this song...brilliant! Oh yes...takes me back to those "radio days". Love the way you've captured that retro style/sound. Excellent!!
