Story behind the song
Musically Description: Pale Forest came about through one of our many jams that we do in practice to warm up or share ideas to each other for songs. These jams don’t necessarily stay in the metal genre. They move around into other styles that we have been influenced by like jazz, classical and even Latin. We wrote this song one day in practice out of frustration toward each other and aggravations in our lives at the time, and when it came time to have a “warm up jam” this was what came out. In this song, you can hear moments of moments of beauty, brutality and jubilation where you can feel our frustrations being freed.
Lyrics
Tired and lost, I wandered alone Beaten by rain; soaked to the bone Wasted in thoughts, encrusted in frost My soul bearing stains no god could condone And in my foul state, I wandered the bog Dripping in mud, buried in fog The stench burned my nose; and yet I felt glee The dark, primal sylvan paid welcome to me My mind opened wide as I my feet felt stone So pure! So strong! Substratum for growth And at this fair moment, my heart rose to joy The light of the forest had touched me once more Time: I grasp its cloak Pain: I breathe, I know Age: I feel transition Growth: My only station I drink To health I smoke In wealth Of soul, and I am not afraid Of death or pain The glory of nature lays at my feet I fall to my knees in order to meet The silence, the beauty, serenity: pure In crushed inhibition I revel, I soar! Blood, and soil, the solace of man Lies in his power to sing to the land Not separate! Not broken, the bond of our lives In senseless oblivion the bodhi hides! The rush of passion, the sorrow of loss Neutralize questions in a questioning heart I dance though I'm blinded, I recklessly twist The eyes of the prudent can't see through the mist Crying in wonder, crazed in fire I have forgotten of societal ire I am complete in the heat or the cold The forest accepts me and helps me grow old
