If it's hot then give God the glory. If it's not then, blame me
If it's hot then give God the glory. If it's not then blame Mitch.
I'm Joe Johnson a local United Methodist Pastor. Before I felt God calling me into the ministry I thought I was going to be a rap artist. For 8 years I did nothing with music until my wife introduced me to a group called "The Gospel Gansters" in 1998. It was an eye opening experience. I was amazed to see people using rap for the glory of God. That day I picked up paper and pen and I haven't put it down yet.
Story behind the song
My son asked me if Jesus was real
Lyrics
Jesus is Real
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
I know, I know, I know
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
He’s guiding me, abides in me, inside of me
Jesus is real!
One day my son came up to me after I got done preacher
He said dad I heard you message it started me thinking
Thinking about the things you told us about Jesus
About how he loves and forgives and he tries to reach us
He said, but dad you also told me about the Easter Bunny
Is Jesus just another one of those stories parents think is funny
Our could it be some how that Jesus is real
Someone I could touch hear and feel
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
I know, I know, I know
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
He’s guiding me, abides in me, inside of me
Jesus is real!
Well it started me thinking about my priorities
What things get my time my effort and my money
Because the things we give the most are the most important to us
And if my son looked at my life where would he find Jesus?
Oh he’d now that the tv is real to his dad
He’d know that music is something his father has to have
He’d know that works a big deal
But would my son know that Jesus is real?
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
I know, I know, I know
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
He’s guiding me, abides in me, inside of me
Jesus is real!
So know I’m sitting at my desk writing my sermon
I’ve decided I’m going to take my sons question as a warning
See I’ve just been talking about Jesus but I finally learn
That a picture of Jesus in your life is more than a thousand words
I want to be ready the next time one of my kids question
Whether Jesus is real, so I’ve learned my lesson
The next time I’m out hanging around with them
I’m going to point out when I see Jesus real in them.
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
I know, I know, I know
Jesus is real. I know the Lord is real to me
He’s guiding me, abides in me, inside of me
Jesus is real!
His power is real
His love is real
His grace is real
The way he makes me feel is real
His power is real
His love is real
His grace is real
The way he makes me feel is real
