Story behind the song
Conceived c2002 This is Take 3 Mix 6 Recorded February-April 2015 Sonar X1 Sending an Emerson, Lake, & Palmer classic straight to the banks of the river Styx in a flaming mousse drenched hairball, as I take dead aim at the Decade of Excess & Hair Metal with a parody re-write of "Lucky Man" ! Filled with gratuitous pop-culture references,& "Spinal Tap"-ish moments (HELLO CLEVELAND!! :D) and a graphic depiction in the final verse of THE ultimate "Rock & Roll Death" !! Also-a couple of in-jokey references to 2 other ELP songs, one very well known; the other not so much!! Once again featuring my god-awful "singing", AND as a extra added bonus, possibly the WORST attempted guitar emulation of Keith Emerson's Moog solo ever recorded!! Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.....!!! :)
Lyrics
He had pure white Cocaine And groupies hundred score All silicone, hair mousse, tight Spandex And lined up at his backstage door (CHORUS) (Ooooo, what an Eighties man He Was.......) He went on endless Tours Three hundred nights a year he would be In a new town & a new orgy Then leave with a new case of V.D.! (CHORUS) (Interlude/Guitar Solo) But then he started shooting Heroin He could no longer sing in key But nobody was paying attention They were just as f***ed up as he (CHORUS) One day he overdosed it And nobody was there To turn him over,so he choked to death On his Vomit, then his own Hair!! (CHORUS) (Interlude 2) OUTRO (Spoken) (With sincerest apologies to Keith Emerson, Greg Lake & Carl Palmer I'm So Sorry Guys....... NNNOOOOOT!! Totally Not! You progressive rock dinosaur farts!! interpolated lines : Burning bass drum pedals up Carl Palmer's a** And a hot tin cowbell in his mouth! THAT would kind of HURT!!)
