Story behind the song
The best account of Captain Nemo may come from the observations of Professor Pierre Aronnax, the narrator of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, who embarks upon the voyage with Nemo when the latter is about forty years of age. He is described as a reticent man, tall and swarthy in appearance, with a straight nose and wide-set eyes, with a compassion for the oppressed and a love for the pipe organ. He eschews dry land, having forsworn all ties with it, and when he does step on it, does so only when the land is uninhabited, as is the case with The Mysterious Island. In keeping with his contempt for the nations of the surface, he uses no products that are not marine in nature, be it power, food, clothing, furnishing, or even his tobacco. When Professor Aronnax alleges that Nemo violates maritime and international law by sinking war-ships, Nemo responds that he is merely defending himself from his attackers, and that the laws of the world on the surface do not apply to him any longer. Nemo exclaims: "On the surface, they can still exercise their iniquitous laws, fight, devour each other, and indulge in all their earthly horrors. But thirty feet below the (sea's) surface, their power ceases, their influence fades, and their dominion vanishes. Ah, monsieur, to live in the bosom of the sea! .... There I recognize no master! There I am free!" The tech stuff: MB: Korg X-50 and Akai MPK49. MD: Guitar; Customized Stratocaster through BOSS ME-50 effects Keyboard; MPK261 with 'Full Stop Pipe Organ' from SampleTank 3 mastered with Samplitude 2015. Drums MAGIX VITA.

I recently read the book 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea' and 'A Journey To The Centre of the Earth' by Jules Verne. You've managed to create a perfect soundtrack for the book. All the power, frustration and personality of Captain Nemo is here in your piece of music. Steampunk doesn't really have a defined musical soundtrack (maybe bands, Abney Park and The Vernian Process ?) It has now. I'm sure James Mason (as Capt. Nemo) would like it too. :) Very well done guys. I like it a lot. Are you planning on doing a soundtrack for 'Journey To The Centre of The Earth'. ? I bet you could do that title justice too.

Great intro organ & drum track. Cool soundtrack looking for a vehicle. Powerful and beautiful guitars. Very cool synth work. Has a sweeping, American west vibe for me. Awesome!

Wow, this is a very dark start on the church organ, and at the same time kind of nervous. At 0:37 you immediately hear the characteristic Pink Floyd sounds. Michael, are you still so much in that Floyd mood? It's opening a kind of fantasy world and it's going somehow to the past (70's) because of the sound. Ending with the Church organ, echoing at the very end. When I think of a ship hearing this the sea should be very wild with high waves. Storms.... and very exiting. I can imagine a very dramatic movie. Very good one, Mike and Michael. I really enjoyed it.

A vast, epic undertaking. The tone fits the imagery perfectly. I just wish it had gone on for another 2 or 12 minutes - a fantastic prog voyage.
