Story behind the song
I've lived in cities but not for long. I love my homestead!
Lyrics
Once upon a time i lived in the city..nights were wild and the girls were pretty...made alot of money in a damn short time..but never got used to waitin' in lines Ch: Up on the Farm, Up on the Farm, most of my friends live in the barn Do some thinkin', do a little drinkin', set on the porch and do alot a pickin' Instrumental break Well it took about an hour to drive across town..smile at a stranger and they look down..sports in a dome everybody's on the phone...nice place to visit, but i'm a goin' home Chorus Bridge: Got a few chickens lay big brown eggs..newborn goats on wobbly legs...cats in the barn, sleepin' in the hay..life is good when ya livin' this way Instrumental break Bridge Well livin' in the country it works for me...do what ya want and be who ya be..The die is cast and the seeds been sown..Life is Good when ya grow yer own... Chorus x2

Terrific up on the farm Pine. You got the banjo? clucking like the chickens in there too. Your voice fits in perfectly to this down homesy genre.

Great vivid and natural song!! The vocals are so fine and really catching that feelin´ of a good old Bluegrass song!! Liked also the pure production with the acoustic instruments, a clear mix, I love the way you produce your songs Charlie, there is something in them that I consider "true", I mean it is pure enjoyable music in its best manner! Enjoyed the lyrics ( nice when I can read them! ;) ) a fantastic deliver! Bravo my talented friend! :)

Outstanding! Back to the country where it all began. Sounds like a busy place. Where do you find the time to relax and play that mighty fine guitar work. The banjo fits well with the tune. Great job Charlie!

What a great sounding track! Someone told me many decades ago that if you wanted to write and play country music to focus on 3 or 4 chords and the truth and you've nailed it with this well mixed song!

Really nice pickin’…Love the lyrics…Don’t much about barns, but the authenticity of his song grabbed me. ..Wonderful melody. Wonderful story, fun track. Well done Charlie.

Gee whiz. Just when I thought the country well had gone dry, you poke your head out of the brush. If they's goats and brown eggs, well count me in. Makes me want to crack open a cold one and do some pickin' on the porch. Really like the way you manhandle your guitar. You play it like an old farm hand - not all prettied up - but you got some soul and some grit. Yep, this is surely one of your best. It gets my toes tappin' and brings back a lot of good memories. How 'bout some more?

I hear a heavy Luther Perkins influence in that flat pickin'. A great "feel good" mood generates from this song. Ya done good, Pine!
