Story behind the song
When I was living in New York, a close friend & I had met an extremely talented young songwriter from Texas. We took him under our wings, and before too long began singing backup on his gigs. This went on for about a year. And then, quite suddenly, he left... went back to Texas (we presumed), and left a gaping hole in our lives... To this day, no other person has effected my songwriting and my life in quite the same way... So, Bill Priest, wherever you are: This one's for you.
Lyrics
When you left The world went dark And I ran around In search of your spark But no glimmer of hope Could ever be found Now that you're not Around When you left, My heart stood still The beating stopped Against my will With your spark on the run I died twice inside Twice for my heart and my Pride When you left, all Time had froze Crystallized in one sorrowful pose Without your spark to Warm my heart, I Stand here frozen Dying and dark... When you left, O, my love left too Hoping in vain For the sight of you O, you left with it all It followed you there Trailing you out, Somewhere Lost in the fine desert air... Now that you're not around Now that you're not around Now that you're not Around...

Love the way that you use the vocals and the acoustic guitar enhance the feeling of loss created by the lyrics. Beautifully done.
