Lyrics
It Was For Me Dan Adkins When I look back I can see Christ hanging there Nail pierced hands, bleeding back, His body bare, If He could lift His head He might have called my name No, not to blame me but to say, “It was for you I came”. Chorus It was for me Ten thousand angels could have pulled Him from the tree It was for me, He took the spear, the nails, such agony He chose to hang there on the cross to set me free They could not take His life So He laid it down for me. I'm sure the angels wept to see their King disgraced A thorn crowned brow, spear pierced side, disfigured face, They must have said, "Just say the word, Lord, And you'll be free", But He said, "Stay back, for this I came Then He gave His life for me Chorus It was for me Ten thousand angels could have pulled Him from the tree It was for me, He took the spear, the nails, such agony He chose to hang there on the cross to set me free They could not take His life So He laid it down for me.
