Creedence Clearwater Revival cover by Harry and Pete Harry did guitar, the great harmony work, the drum track and all the mixing and mastering. I did the bass track and then sang the lead vocal and a bit of harmony..

It is for listeners to decide how they would describe my music when they have a chance to hear a range of material. I've only just started recording. Keep watc
I played bass in a band at Walbottle school, the T-set, with Dave Robinson from Throckley, Bri Swanson, Lemington, and Ken Wright, also Throckley, and started writing songs at this stage. I continued for a while in Dobbin with Bri and Ian Shield, also of Lemington, doing vocals and bits and pieces under Bri's direction - and did more writing. We also did a couple of them together. I then spent a few years concentrating on work and family, with some more writing in fairly recent times, until the lure of performing again (since 2005) became too much to resist! The songwriting had to go on hold for a while as I continued to work full-time until Oct 2010 whenever possible but I have written a few new songs over the last couple of years such as 'Butterflies'. See more details below and check for regular updates.

Story behind the song
A song I originally recorded over 40 years ago, suggested by my then music buddy Bri Swanson. So when Harry and I were collecting songs for our session last month and Harry came up with another CCR song, I thought 'Why not?'. We quickly picked this up and I had even thought of doing it at Sleazy's the night I arrived at Harry's, which just happened to be St George's Day. What I like about the bass line is that the only tricky bit falls over the non-vocal section, so we could have done! Theories abound as to what the song's about: the Vietnam War, the fading idealism of the 60's, the break-up of CCR, Tom leaving in particular (Wikipedia). Blimey, I thought it was about our rotten weather! It's very appropriate right now.
Lyrics
Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm I know, it's been coming for some time When it's over, so they say It'll rain a sunny day I know, shining down like water I wanna know have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know have you ever seen the rain Coming down a sunny day? Yesterday and days before Sun is cold and rain is hard I know, been that way for all my time I wanna know have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know have you ever seen the rain Coming down a sunny day? Yeah!!!! I wanna know have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know have you ever seen the rain Coming down a sunny day?

Pete, bare with me I'm typing with one hand. What a great song. It was one of the first songs I learned how to play when I was young. When you and Harry sing together it reminds me of Crosby Stills and Nash, or the Mama's and the Papa's. Great job, sorry it took so long I have a real left hand problem. Did Harry make any HarryMann's pizza's for you. :) I love you vocal timber soothing, and inviting. Nice Job my friend. Kit

Hi Pete, Oh yes love it. Good to hear a live type version of this song. Unlike Rodrica I have the CCR chronicles in my car right now and I play this quite regularly with some guys I jam with. This is always a favorite as all CCR songs as most are simple for a mixed jam group people can follow along. Very nice. This is what music is all about the fun.
