Queen of the Cover Songs...
This is something I'm doing just for fun -- to live out a lifelong dream since the age of around 7 or so when I realized that I could carry a tune (without the use of a bucket!) and it didn't sound bad. Much love and thanks go to those in my SoundClick family (and now beyond!) who helped to encourage/challenge me to spread my wings to try this out and continue to take it to the next level. Without your kind support I'd still be just a listener (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Story behind the song
Ok, I couldn't resist doing a ballad for this challenge, and who do we have that did it better than Gloria/MSM. This one was a bit of a reach for me in that it sits right in the divider between registers...I may still work on it as I think it's a lovely song and as such a theme of my young adulthood. One of those songs that just makes you utterly sing right from the soul. Congratulations, Mary on the OUTSTANDING quality of this classic '80s vocal. This is one of your truly GREAT songs for the CBC 1980s Song Challenge. Certainly, it was hard hard work to do four songs for the Coconut Blues Club '80s venue. But your rewards are many from the joy of doing the music to the unanimous high praise and sincere comments of SoundClick Friends.

I DO remember this song and you did a real classy job on it. I like GE, it's a very good song, strong lyrics and production, but there is something about the melody that makes me think I'll give it a miss in the shower in the morning! I don't hear strong hooks in this song (I've checked the original to remind me of her version) and I think it is a very hard song to sing, some sections of it seem to have such tiny pitch variations, so more credit to you for pulling it off.

One of the few songs I actually remember from the 80's, I was learning to play guitar back then ;) Has a more poignant feel to it these days :) Nicely done MC.
