Queen of the Cover Songs...
This is something I'm doing just for fun -- to live out a lifelong dream since the age of around 7 or so when I realized that I could carry a tune (without the use of a bucket!) and it didn't sound bad. Much love and thanks go to those in my SoundClick family (and now beyond!) who helped to encourage/challenge me to spread my wings to try this out and continue to take it to the next level. Without your kind support I'd still be just a listener (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Story behind the song
I've loved this song and what a great reason to record it! I have friends who have sung this to their children as a lullaby. Enjoy! NOTE: Karaoke BT used with permission of Karaoke Version (http://www.karaoke-version.com/mp3-backingtrack/kenny-loggins/return-to-pooh-corner.html) (The backing track came with backing vocals...they altered the tune a little bit, so it doesn't quite follow the original. Thanks again to Wayne for adding some bass "oomph" to the music.)
Lyrics
RETURN TO POOH CORNER =================== Christopher Robin and I walked along Under branches lit up by the moon Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore As our days disappeared all too soon But I've wandered much further today than I should And I can't seem to find my way back to the Wood So help me if you can I've got to get back To the House at Pooh Corner by one You'd be surprised There's so much to be done Count all the bees in the hive Chase all the clouds from the sky Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do Got a honey jar stuck on his nose He came to me asking for help and advice From here no one knows where he goes So I sent him to ask of the Owl if he's there How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear Help me if you can I've got to get back To the House at Pooh Corner by one You'd be surprised There's so much to be done Count all the bees in the hive Chase all the clouds from the sky Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh It's hard to explain how a few precious things Seem to follow throughout all our lives After all's said and done I was watching my son Sleeping there with my bear by his side So I tucked him in, I kissed him and as I was going I'd swear that the old bear whispered "Girl, welcome home" Believe me if you can I've finally come back To the House at Pooh Corner by one And what do you know There's so much to be done Count all the bees in the hive Chase all the clouds from the sky Back to the days of Christopher Robin Back to the ways of Christopher Robin Back to the days of Pooh

Really nice to hear your voice again! Great job on the song especially the sweet vocals.
A WONDERFUL vocal, Mary! This is such a lovely Lullaby, and you enhanced this standard with your great and expressive voice. It was so nice to have you at the CBC Challenge again...we hope to see you there often as possible!

It's great to have the pleasure to enjoy a new song by you! Again a song which suits your style and voice very well. The song is unheard of here in Sweden, but I immediately got a warm feeling for it. One notion: I think I hear you sometimes unintentionally gliding slightly before hitting the right tone. It is not a lack of capability though, as you clearly move easily up and down the register. But do you know the trick of imagining aiming just a bit higher and lower than the notes say, when jumping up and down in the melody? Because one's voice is often a little "lazy" in following one's mind and this way one can fool it to do the right thing, so to say.

A masterpiece. A song which had escaped me. Not what I was expecting, even for a lullaby! Not sure what I WAS expecting here actually. I think you sound different. But you did a great job and I followed it word for word today after having a quick listen last night. See, I'm with this challenge business! Sending me tumbling from the top 5 too! Hee, hee.

Never heard this before MC! But I was brought up on AA Milne, so the story of Pooh seeking advice from Wol about his honey jar predicament took me right back to bed-time stories with Mum. Which just suddenly got me all welled-up. Thanks for taking me back :)
