This is a page dedicated to the fight against the plans to demolish the Queen Caroline Estate in Hammersmith London.
This is a page dedicated to the fight to save the Queen Caroline Estate in Hammersmith, London from demolition. In short, the council want to demolish the estate and re-develop the site with possible relocation for current residents to another part of London. See here for the full story - Although this cycle of songs was inspired by the QC fight it equally applies to the disenfranchised, dispossessed and powerless across the world. Each song is written from the point of view of those involved in the struggle or simply affected by the proposals in whatever way. There are (or will be) songs for The organisers of the protest group The politicians from all sides The developers who will build luxury flats after the estate is demolished The buyers of those flats The demolition men The shopkeeper The Lollipop lady The residents who want to go The residents who don't The newspaper reporters

Lyrics
Well we left our home in Dagenham and travelled way out west I don't know why my parents moved I guess they thought it was for the best I lost my room, I left my school and I missed all my friends I said, that if I get the chance I'd move back east again My Dad he gave my dog away as we moved into a flat I cried myself to sleep at night and I can't forgive him that My parents passed a while back and left me on my own I might have been here 30 years still doesn't feel like home What a school they sent me to, I hated it and how I hated all the teachers there and that lollipop lady cow She'd hit me with that lollipop if I didn't move along I've still got the scars today and I'm glad to see her gone I go to Romford most weekends and meet up with old mates they ask me when I'm going back and I say I've got to wait I've got no job, I'm on the dole, and the social pays the rent I haven't told the council yet my mum and dad are dead A Tory bloke come round last night and said that I should know They'd pay for me to move away and did I want to go? So goodbye to these old cold rooms, I'm glad to see the back of 'em It's time for me to celebrate I'm going back to Dagenham
