Story behind the song
Samuel Osborne Barber II; Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, March 9, 1910, Barber died of cancer in New York City, January 23, 1981, at the age of 70. He was buried in Oaklands Cemetery in his hometown. Adagio for Strings, his most famous work, was composed in 1936, and arranged for string orchestra in 1938, from the second movement of his String Quartet, Op. 11. The piece begins with a B flat played by violins, leading to the lower strings' entrance. The rhythm is mainly compressed with sustained notes, and Barber uses some unusual time signatures including 4/2, 5/2, 6/4, and 3/2. Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings has become one of the most recognizable pieces of American concert music. Recorded in 12 tracks, using MIDI interface, with my Casio keyboard. Mixed down to 9 tracks with Samplitude Music Studio 15. Magix/Catooh orchestral string instrument voices used in this arrangement; Contrabass 1 & 2 Violon Cello 1 & 2 Viola 1 & 2 1st Violin 1 & 2 2nd Violin 1 & 2 Violin soloist 1 & 2

This is amazing. It makes me wonder if you are playing the parts from sheet music or memory. Incredible.

"Live synth strings" - if it possible to say so... The light of sublime sadness - that's what I hear in this music...

I really enjoyed your story and know this piece very well. It's still on the Classic Radio regularly. It's beautiful. And at this moment I listen another way and hear the difficulties everywhere. What is he doing with the time? It's like it's slowing down constantly. This must have been quite a job. How long did it take? I guess you had the music on paper. Very well done, Michael! With a very good sound. I think you have learned a lot as well while making it.
Crafted with care, you can hear the pains taken in creating this, but it's better to just listen to the music. A fantastic composition, Michael.

Like most people I first discovered this piece via Oliver Stone's "Platoon", and have loved it ever since. It is a heartbreaking piece and you have truly done it justice here MD, adding your own touches and interpretation as only you can. Utterly fantastic, and beautifully realised.
