Story behind the song
I guess it is my Ballad. I didn’t even remember when I wrote it. I have this faint memory of sitting at Judit’s house in Cegled, in the garden at summer. It must have been 3-4 years ago. Anyway this is one of those songs that even though I wrote, it seems that it was written by someone else and later put on my guitar. Guitarists must know this feeling… The basic idea was to play a shuffle and call it zombie. Because zombies shuffle. Slowly.
Lyrics
Early in the morning
The sheriff knocks your door
Asking ’bout the blood
That’s on your floor
You were just napping
As the bastard passed away
They found the weapon
There’s nothing to say
So are you so innocent?
Don’t even have a shotgun?
You killed him with your vanity
And no way you run
Refr.:
You took my lover, charmed him to your bed
It made me angry, I shot him dead
Like a rose he’s turning red
You were the last one he ever had
You’ll wish I’d kill you
Honey not a chance
Watching you suffer
Is my vengeance
See you in the court
As your future fades
Crying for freedom
From the country jail
Sweet you should have listened
But you don’t have a clue
So you start to learn
What a mean woman could do
