a work in progress song: This song is about a good friend of mine, who's main priority was Meth....NOT a good choice. ((sorry for the lame bongo's...was jammin with more soul than attention to perfection, lol))

Solo singer/songwriter chic...soulful, emotional songs. raw, stripped down acoustic rock
Hi there...I'm just a solo artist at the time. Just a simple songwriter, trying to get a few good songs down on tape. I write some folk rock, ballads, and a country song now and then. Have previously recorded a demo tape in studio and hated it, the project ended up not sounding like me and my music, so I'm working on my own music now with my own 4trk at home. I'm not really trying to do anything with my music anymore, I just write and play for my own soul and satisfaction. Not too many things in life make me feel as alive and happy as when I'm jammin' out or working on a tune. I hope you enjoy these little pieces of life from me......and if you're so inspired, please leave me your thoughts on the message board. :)

Story behind the song
The motivation behind this song was for a very old friend of mine, who at the time, had been busted bigtime concerning meth. At the time, I was hoping for some kind of change for this person, that it would open his eyes, and he would pull himself out of the hole he has dug himself into. Turned out to not change a thing, I think he is destined to be hooked to this drug until his dying day, it's amazing, how many years we can abuse our bodies if so willed. Sad part is, he has lost ALL his real friends, including me. Seems like when people get busted for meth, the hardcore addicts, it's either time for jail, OR time to play nark for the cops. Nark is how this story has played out, hence for the loss of all friends. It was sad to see such and old, dear friend choose this drug over some beautiful friendships. If you hear this song, and you have someone in your life with a meth prob, if you care about them and miss them, don't just sit and wait it out to see what happens in their life, try at least once to let them know you care and want them back. Try to help them see there ARE other things in life that CAN make them happy. Meth only kills happiness in the long run, permanently even, changes peoples personalities forever. Meth is the saddest drug and addiction I've ever been around. All we can do is try to care.
Lyrics
LATEST CASUALTY I've heard the news about you my old friend The cops came and they hauled you off again I really gotta say that it didn't shock me With the things you been doin', and the company you keep You sold your soul to Satan, tried to fill the hole inside And now you gotta pay the price..... You're just the latest casualty, and that's the sad reality Another meth addiction tragedy, another lost soul You picked your poison and you lost your mind Scheming to be high all the time You're just another lost soul, you're the latest casualty I could have ended up like you old friend I've been there with you, I won't condescend I know life's a drag, yeah life is a bitch But you sold out your friends, when you picked up that witch I tried to warn you buddy, but you turned a deaf ear And the message was loud and clear You're just the latest casualty, and that's a sad reality There's nothing now that can be done, it's the end of the run Addiction stole your life away from you, But man you ain't so blind, I think you knew And now it's really true, you're the latest casualty You're the latest meth casualty...

This is an excellent song in many respects. The lyrics are really well thought out and pure and true. The song has a great beat and it works for me. This is the real drug war.

This is a very gutsy song, its says it straight up. The lyrics are really good and heartfelt vocals too. Lovely acoustic guitar work and I too dig the bongo's :) I dont think you can talk about this subject without getting depressed, there is no good in it.It is a trap and some see it and get out.................and some just don't I have lost countless friends and seen grown men lose everything within a short time of using Meth/Crack I have seen alchohol take many others too! If you think you can save one with a song.........sing strummergurl sing!!! Keep doing the right thing and keep your head up kiddo :) Someone out there needs this song Thanks for writing it!!!
