Song I wrote for Lynette, sung at a coffeehouse.
lynette brawer the power
Lynette Brawer was musician extraordinaire, super mom, songwriter excellent, teacher, bandmate, best friend, confidant, hero..
Lynette Brawer was a musician, teacher, band member, super mom, best friend.. one of the most talented and beautiful people inside and out I have ever met.. Lynette played with a number of musical groups, including The Happimmortals and Callian's Dream.. Lynette and I shared the dreams and hopes, the plans and the schemes.. she was a bandmate, a musical soulmate, a confidant, a best friend, a hero.. A bubbly personality that would not let discouragment enter her vocabulary.. Lynette and her son Joey left us in August, 2001.. Lynette, 39, and Joey 13, were caught in a fire and suffered massive smoke inhalation.. they were taken of life support a few days later.. they are no longer with us in this physical life.. But we do know her spirit looks in on us from time to time.. This website is dedicated to Lynette, singer/songwriter, keyboard, flute, guitar player (and to Joey too who played a mean sax for 13 years old).. Maybe someday what music we have of Lynette's will be heard by the world.. and when we meet again on the other side she'll get a laugh that she got notoriety after her death like so many artists seem to have done.. But her music lives on for all the world to enjoy.. We salute you Lynette!! Party on!!

Story behind the song
Written for Lynette, a caring, talented, beautiful person inside and out who was one of the best friends I've ever had.. She was a Buddhist, had been almost half her life. At her memorial for her and her son Joey (he was 13 and also died from the fire) the leaders of the group said she was a Buddha now.. a rock and roll Buddha.. I've updated her website, making it a ceremony of her and Joey's wonderful lives.. If you get a chance check out Lynette's Page
Lyrics
rock n roll buddha they say you look in on us ashes to ashes dust to dust sometimes i feel you near like you’ve come to dry the tears you were like a sister to me we shared the dreams to be then one day you were gone like a melody to an unfinished song chorus: rock n roll buddha did you find nirvana? rock n roll buddha did you find good karma o pretty buddha hear your tune you know you left us too soon left us too soon (and joey too) your picture hangs on my wall warm voice never more to call a wonderful life now gone ahead so many things left unsaid you sang like the angel my friend they tell us it's a new beginning not the end ashes to ashes dust to dust i know sometimes you look in on us chorus: rock n roll buddha did you find nirvana? rock n roll buddha did you find good karma o pretty buddha hear your tune you know you left us too soon left us too soon (and joey too) (and i miss you so much) ©Copyright 2001 words and music by Davy Shannon
