Story behind the song
I was talking to Gary Judge of the band 'cinnabar' about our similar family histories through email. He mentioned how he can be feeling perfectly wonderful, but would think of his mother who died when he was young. He said how it was like a cloud passed over everything. We discussed a collaboration on the theme. Gary actually went off and wrote his own take on the theme while I was going in my own direction with the idea. Therefore, this song appeared in its form as my own and Gary has a completely different song that he will develop. Maybe we can put them side by side when they are both complete.
Lyrics
(Intro) + (Bridge) Nothing you say can get in my way. It’s a blue sky day. Colors I feel are safe, but surreal On a sunny day. Everything is in its place. God’s in the sky. There’s a smile on his face. Ask me, I’ll tell you for free, It’s a perfect day. (Piano Break) A heart will yearn as memories return. It’s a warm breeze day. Scenes from my past, The whole human cast from a former day. But then I think of you; God shuts his eyes. There’s new meaning to blue. He took you away, he had nothing to say On a perfect day. (Bridge) I am hurt and I am angry, But I don’t know at who. Your mystery is hush. I have no sense or touch of you. You’re an absence of light, an absence of day, An absence of love, But I pity you. Oh what must you be dreaming in your waiting room, Waiting somewhere else. I know I should forgive you For there’s nothing to forgive. And I know that you may love me and I will love you At the meeting of ourselves. Though Time’s the harshest god, It always passes us on To the heart of the matter, To the ending of our song. (outro)
