Moving, haunting, heartfelt emotions...after visiting The Arizona Memorial, for the first time...on the anniversary of 9/11.
I had just returned from Aiea, Hawaii...for my 3rd visit to see Capt. Lee Muller & the crew of E-10 Station there in the Honolulu area.
He was the first firefighter who resonded to God Will Prevail-'The Victim's Anthem'.
We became dear friends and it was on my 2nd visit last September, that I visited The Arizona Memorial.
While there, I wrote the first line of 'Remembering Pearl'.
My first thought, was, 'I wasn't there...when you laid down your lives.'
It was late Nov., when I sat down at the piano...and, the lyrics and music came to life.
I had desired to have it on this site by the Dec. 7th anniversary, but, was a couple of weeks late.
Once up, it was picked up by the Survivors of Pearl Harbor. It was also forwarded by a Naval Officer to the Premier Naval Band in Washington, D.C. for consideration.
I have since been overwhelmed with comments from survivors, their families, and, several students who are doing reports on the attack of Pearl Harbor.
The song is simply put...all my thoughts and prayers from my heart and soul...as I stood there above the sunken Arizona.
I WAS OVERCOME WITH HEARTACHE AND SORROW...AND, PRIDE AND HONOR.
My song is my humble attempt to honor their memory and the suffering of that tragic day in our great country's history.
I never sit down and intend to write a particular song about any particular subject...it's whatever fills my heart that leads to every song.
All my music is inspired by real life events that I, or, someone I know are going through...and, not from any talent I have...only from a gift that God has given to me to be able to express my soul through lyrics and music.
And, like the chorus of the song says, 'REMEMBER...NEVER FORGET...NEVER!
Remembering Pearl ( Harbor )
I wasn't there ... when you laid down ... your life,
But, I stand here ... before you,
With tears ... in my eyes.
I can't change ... the past,
No ... I can't ... bring you back
But, I promise you, this ... I will keep you, alive!
I'll Remember... You
Remember... Me
Remember... ALL ... That life should be!
And, when ... it's sun
Sets ... on ... this place,
I will ... Remember... Your face.
I'll ... Never... Forget
Never... Regret,
Never... Look back, or, second guess ...
What God ... had done
If ... I'm the one ... left,
I'll ... Remember,
To ... Never Forget!
I wasn't there ... when you called out ... my name.
No, I ... could not ... hold you
Or... comfort ... your pain.
I can't change ... what's happened,
No, I can't ... turn back ... time;
But, I promise you, this ... Forever... you're mine!
Remember... Me
Remember... You,
Remember... ALL ... we loved to do!
And, when ... life's sun
Sets ... on my face,
Remember... Me ... You ... this place!
Never... Forget
Never... Regret,
Never... Look back, or, second guess ...
What ... God ... has done
If, you're ... the one ... left,
Remember,
To ... Never Forget!

( Musical Interlude )
* * *
Remember... Me
Remember... You,
Remember... ALL ... We loved to do!
And, when ... life's sun
Sets ... on this place,
Remember... Never Forget!
Remember... THEN
Remember... WHEN,
Remember... ALL ... We could have been!
And, when ... God's sun
Sets ... on your face,
Remember... Me, You ... this place!
Never... Forget
Never... Regret,
Never... Look back, don't second guess
What ... God ... has done
If, you're ... the one ... left,
Remember,
Never Forget!
Remember... Me
Remember... You,
Remember... ALL ... We loved to do.
And, when ... life's sun
Sets ... on this place,
They'll ... Remember,
And, Never...
Never Forget !
