Story behind the song
During my yearling year at West Point I heard a person singing "People Get Ready" in a New York City subway station while I was on leave. I had never heard that song before until then. The echo inside the station enhanced the tone quality of the person's voice. It inspired me to write a song of my own about that Train soon to come.
Lyrics
There is a train a mighty whistle it blows When it will come only the Father knows And when it arrives all the saints, they will ride home to glory There is a place, and angels guarding the road A beautiful city where streets are made of gold And living water goes flowing from the mighty throne of God Share the Word, tell the story 'Bout a train bound for glory You can ride, step inside All aboard, ride the train Ride the train, ride the train Jesus died to pay your fare to ride again It's not far to the station Step right up, climb aboard Ride the train There is a place God had prepared for His fold A promised land where milk and honey flowed A place of rest and deliverance from ole Pharaoh Long ago the truth was told about our Christ He bled and died to pay the captive's price And now we can live a more abundant life Thank you Jesus Share the Word, tell the story 'Bout a train bound for glory You can ride, step inside All aboard, ride the train Ride the train, ride the train Jesus died to pay your fare to ride again It's not far to the station Step right up, climb aboard Ride the train (repeat chorus) There is a train a mighty whistle it blows When it will come only the Father knows And when it arrives all the saints, they will ride home to glory Long ago the truth was told about our Christ He bled and died to pay the captive's price And now we can live a more abundant life Thank you Jesus Share the Word, tell the story 'Bout a train bound for glory You can ride, step inside All aboard, ride the train Ride the train, ride the train Jesus died to pay your fare to ride again It's not far to the station Step right up, climb aboard Ride the train (repeat chorus) Ride the train, ride the train Jesus died to pay your fare to ride again It's not far to the station Step right up, climb aboard Ride the train Step right up, climb aboard Ride the train Step right up, climb aboard Ride the train Copyright 1991 Dream Into Reality Muisc/ASCAP www.dreamintoreality.us
