A song that deals with the various purposes of the Sabbath - worship, fellowship, meditation, etc. and asks the aid of the Lord to achieve the maximum benefit from the day.
I had been frustrated with my mind wandering excessively from God and the purposes of His day of rest. I knew He could help me with the problem and I knew of good things to think about.
Lord help me to honor Your Sabbath
My mind keeps a-wandering away
To all the affairs of my business
The things that concern me each day.
Come fill me with sweet revelations
Of glorious, Heavenly love.
And help me to raise up my vision
To see Your great wonders above.
I feel Your warmth in the sunshine.
I see Your great love in the rain
That washes the hills and the valleys
Providing a harvest of grain.
I learn of Your strength from the forest
And mountains that point to the sky.
Oh, Jesus, I need your dear presence
To be everlastingly nigh.
The thousands of beautiful flowers
They tell of an Artist divine
While watching the squirrels and the chipmunks
What calm satisfaction is mine
The joy of the mockingbird's singing
The peace of the waterfall's song
They tell of the glories of Heaven,
With Jesus is where I belong.
And thank you for brothers and sisters
You knew that I needed their love.
I long for that family reunion
We'll have in Your kingdom above.
And, Jesus, I know when I see You
I'll wonder why did I delay
To faithfully work for Your kingdom
And live like a Christian each day
