This song has many parents, including my own, who always wanted to hear it. But I wrote it when I was 14 and have long wanted to upgrade the lyric. Another successful collaboration with my younger self!

I wrote the original version of this song as a ballad when I was 14 and inspired by all the vague yet evocative imagism I was hearing in pop songs of the time. Revisiting it all these years later, we thought it would work better as the story of a lost love from a simpler time.
Quiet vessels on the sea
Searching for the land
We drew our castles in the air
Then built them on the sand
Our legacy was shattered
Strong tides then washed away
Lost in BITTERSWEET REMEMBRANCE
Today...drifting away
Footsteps in the lantern glow
The shadow of a doubt
We danced beneath the flickering stars
Then watched them all go out
The seagulls cried their warning
Strong tides then washed away
Lost in BITTERSWEET REMEMBRANCE
Today...drifting away
Today, gazing out on pampered gardens
I dream of those castles in the air
Echo of your laugh, fading
Stillness of the dawn, waiting
Sunlight broke through jagged towers
The morning's warm embrace
A sundial marked our final hours
Across its weathered face
I raise a glass in anguish
The words I cannot say
Lost in BITTERSWEET REMEMBRANCE
Today...drifting away
