Story behind the song
A bizarre psychedelic experiment-turned-zone out. "Playing The Game" was recorded in 3 separate takes in 1986, and meant for the 1987 Lawrence Wise And The Cosmic Funk Orchestra Cassette Album "TIME". I was not satisfied with EITHER take, so I let it sit. FOR 38 YEARS, until this year (2024), when I decided to digitize the whole mess and give it a new listen. What I wound up doing was splicing the 3 Separate Takes TOGETHER into One Great Big...'Piece'. It became a psychedelic freak-out. And a 21 Minute freak-out at that. And, do to the vocals, it's sick.
