12 string with dobo-ish fills. Jeff did the 12 string and Dave added the slide parts.
Story at least partial influenced by changes in my own town. 1st verse I know a couple of diners where the counter has been worn clear through.
The counter in the diners been washed so many times
That the vinyl has been worn clean through
Menu hasnt changed since they added cheese fries
Still nothing for the teenagers to do
And the town streets all got their names
From the familys that lived theres in the 1800s
Where everybody knows your father and mother
And the local church still really prays for each other
Its guaranteed that things wont be the same
All of the mom and pop restaurants are gone or on their way
For the arches and crowns where you can get bad food
Without ever leaving your car
The place where grandma and grandpa first kissed
And the converted chicken shack where they first lived
Where we still brew our own coffee at home
And pour it into our own stainless thermos
The feedstore still sells ice cream
So the kids can have a cone while their parents get fresh feed
And folks take a little bit of pride
At the tablecloth that they bought at the 5 and dime
