well, was time to move on. i packed and hit the the road. was a long road trip. and i survived it. I actually started writing it before i left Because i knew what was coming. with the opening lines." yes it's time to hit the road, packed my truck last night with everything i own....... finished the song about a year later. showed it to Art Miranda my life long friend and Drummer. Art on drums , Doug on guitars. Bass. Keys/strings. vocals. just the two of us. i recorded us on a 8 track boss daw. i mixed and mastered it in Cakewalk.
Yes it's time to hit the road
packed my truck last night
with everything i own
got to get out before the first big snow
headin straight down south
to the gulf of Mexico
maybe I ll stop in New Orleans
play my guitar
out on bourbon st.
make some coin
so i can eat
park my truck somewhere
try to sleep
in the morning which way to go
should i point the truck west
head east along the gulf coast
maybe i ll head for Tampa Bay
get out my guitar
play on the beach all day
maybe i ll head for the Florida keys
play my guitar out on Duval st.
make some coin so i can eat
park my truck somewhere
sleep on the beach
I took my advice
and as i left
i told myself
I would do my best
Southern most point got me turned around
take in one more sunset
for i leave this Key West town
playin over by Sloppy Joe's
Saw the ghost of Hemingway
raise his glass to me and he goes
Maybe you should head for Tennessee
pass thru Nashville
on a trip to Beale street
then you should head for NYC
like to see you play Carnegie
So i took his advice
and as i left
I gave him a wink
and told him i would do my best
lead.....
southern most point
got me turned around
take in one more sunset
for i leave this Key West town .........
