A song I put together earlier this year for a friend and musician that I grew up with in Peterborough, Ontario. He was our singer in TYRANT and now was going through a heart valve replacement. I thought this would give him some comfort.
A teen friend of mine underwent a heart valve procedure earlier this year and in a moment, I thought of Psalm 23 and so put together a song around that verse. It gelled very well and now it is out there and you can enjoy it too.
[Verse]
In the valley of shadows, I walk alone
Haunted by my demons, a heart turned to stone
But through the darkness, I hear a voice so clear
Guiding my footsteps, casting away my fear
[Chorus]
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I fear no evil, for You are with me till my very last breath
With rod and staff, You lead me on this treacherous path
Your presence comforts, I find solace in Your steadfast
(Oh-oh-oh, yeah)
(Oh-oh-oh, yeah)
[Verse]
The world is a cesspool of evil and depravity,
Swallowed by the greed of humanity.
Stealing and robbing from the poor is a nod,
Can we not embrace the word of GOD?
[Solo]
[Verse]
As I pass from this life into the next one,
Will my memories of who I knew follow me there?
Is the past so important after I'm gone?
Will my friends morn me , or even care?
