A touching piano and orchestral ballad regarding the plight of the homeless. Some nice lead guitar work during the end fade out. Lyrics and song story below.
I started out trying to compose an electronic tune, something like the Forensic Files theme, but then a strange inspiration hit me and with a few modifications this wildly different ballad took shape, complete with lyrics written within 25 minutes. I had some experience with homeless people decades ago. Of course, the problem is getting much more serious now.
My father left when I was three, my mother died and set me free
To chart my way through foster homes and the like
I hardly knew right from wrong, or why anyone would write this song
My grades were fair but I was scared and alone
And now I'm homeless on the street
No roof or walls and little to eat
Tomorrow brings uncertainties
And you can judge me as you please
When I was old enough to leave, I had no clue what to believe
But like my folks I was broke and in need
I fell in with the worst of sorts, for theft and drugs I faced the courts
I did some time, probation too, I tell you
And now I'm homeless on the street
No roof or walls and little to eat
Tomorrow brings uncertainties
And you can judge me as you please
I met some folks on these streets
Some much kinder than me
And now they're homeless on the street
No roof or walls and little to eat
Tomorrow brings uncertainties
And you can judge them as you please
Yes, now we're homeless on the street
No roof or walls and little to eat
Tomorrow brings uncertainties...
