Story behind the song
A hymn for seafarers in the maritime armed services. Written in 1860 by William Whiting. It is inspired by Psalm 107. It was popular with the Royal Navy and the US Navy in the 19th century, and adapted by branches of the military in the United Kingdom and the United States. John B. Dykes composed the music titled Melita (Malta) This hymn is used at funerals with the Navy and presidents. Here done with an orchestra of piano, flute, harp, strings, and choir. 98bpm.
