If E.A. Poe wrote a song it would have to sound like Desperado from Alice Cooper's 1974 Greatest Hits album. Eerie, translucent like a ghost, and cloaked in surreal truths of evil. I captured a little of each in this song about the witches I've loved
Alice Cooper's 1974 Greatest Hits album blasts in the background as my friend Gab and I lit up in my step Dad's camper trailer. We stared at the Penthouse mag I'd stolen from under my older brothers mattress. Gab feast upon the curves of shadows, breast and pelvic bone that showed its contour through skin. I was more concentrated on the savory lines of lyrics and those ear bone breaking Marshall tones. Dreaming of being on stage with Mr. Cooper and the feel of a Les Paul in my hands, while my best friend tore out the centerfold. I don't really think, I want to think about where his hands where or what he had in them. But the late summer air will never let me forget my youth. This song I love for so many reasons.... It's mostly about the women, demons and witches I've loved along the way. In person or in print. Evermore!
