Passover / Easter song of praise and worship take from and built upon the Passover Sedar meal traditional song called Dayenu and extending it into the New Covenant that Jesus Christ brought to us.
Dayenu (Pronounced - Die-a-new) is a traditional Passover song that is sung to express gratitude to God.
One of the most popular Seder tunes, it describes some of the many favors that God bestowed upon the Israelites when He led them to freedom into the Land of Paradise from Egypt. So, with this song, they praised God for His salvific deeds. This song has been taken from "Haggadah", the holy book of the Jews. The word "Dayenu" is loosely translated into, "it would have been enough for us", "it would have been sufficient", or "it would have sufficed." This song is over 1000 years old and is taken from the ninth-century Seder Rav Amram. The song praises the Lord for 15 gifts that He bestowed upon the Jewish people and each verse ends with the line that had God only given one of the gifts, it would have still been enough. The song is sung after the elders tell the story of the exodus and before the description about Passover. Dayenu has 15 stanzas, five about leaving slavery, and five about Miracles and five about being with God.
The second reading on Epiphany Sunday 2020; (Ephesians 3:4-6 When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to human beings in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit, that the Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.) speaks to the fact that we as Gentiles are now copartners in Gods promises due to the coming of Jesus Christ. Jesus in human flesh brings the promises made in the Old Testament to fulfillment. We now have the salvific power of Christ due to His birth, death and Resurrection and shall give praise and thanksgiving. Because of this, I offer this song in the spirit of the Jewish traditions that came before us and have given us a template to continue praising and giving thanks to Our Lord for His most recent gifts and revelations. I also know now that there will always be more to come, Our Lord cannot help Himself and He knows how much we need Him.
Enough
Had You only created a new Ark
And not blessed us with Your First Born
No, not enough, I love you more than this.
Had You only blessed us with His Your First Born
And not given us Your promise
Wait, be still, and know that I am God
You revealed yourself
Time and time again
Calling us sons and daughters
What could be enough
Had You only given us Your promise
And not graced us with communion
Have patience child, I love you more than this
Had You only graced us with communion
And not suffered Holy Passion
Not yet enough, I love you more than this
Jesus thirsts for me
Yes He bleeds for me
Calling us sons and daughters
What will be enough
Had You only suffered Holy Passion
And not Yourself resurrected
Just not enough, I love you more than this
Had You only been resurrected
And not sent the Holy Spirit
Still not enough, I love you more than this
You revealed yourself
Time and time again
Calling us sons and daughters
That will be enough
Jesus thirsts for me
Yes He bleeds for me
Calling us sons and daughters
At so dear a price
Calling us sons and daughters
At so dear a price
