Story behind the song
I always wanted to write a song around the same chords all the way through, which goes against my natural tinker and add work ethic. Anyway I found this nice four chord demo which i had marked down for a possible chorus and built the song around it. Everything fell very nicely into place with this one, the intro is a personal favorite as is the solo, the words i'm 90% happy with now (three years later) I always feel i can do better, but the song goes along very well. This song became in 2017 the first ever song of mine to be played on BBC Radio Introducing, the fact that it took me eight years and over fifty songs to get played proves that you should never ever give up!
Lyrics
Rain in The Summertime Chorus Everything’s ok , everthing’s just fine, rain in the summertime, everything just fine Saw a token walk in empty streets of why, so dropped the road I took to think and realize Chorus I broke the back of try being left alone each night, for whispers only cry if you let them fuckers talk Chorus So the mighty run on empty promised lullabies whilst the old friend turned away and softly he did cry, I’m happy when I’m with you but sad when you’re away, I’m open to a future but not one slaved to grey, only fresh endeavors look sorrow in the eye and will vanquish made not borrowed make everything alright Chorus I saw that token walk and it was jumping at the sky, living on the now forgiving days past by. He sang sweetly at the trees and played puddles in the lane, he’s finally seen the light and won the losing game. He’s figured out the answers without opinion swaying lies and now leaps at the future knowing everything’s alright. Chorus to fade. ©2016 Warren Jenks. All Rights Reserved
