Dedicated to my one and only brother Elliot. Version 2 - Revised: remixed/remastered.
My brother recently had some serious health issues, so I wrote this song for him to let him know how much he means to me and how much I've been thinking about him. We're separated by 3000 miles of land and 9 years of age, but no matter how far we're separated, we'll always be brothers.
Thousands of miles apart, growing up in the same house
Never were exactly close, so many reasons for that
Thousands of miles apart, now living on different coasts
Never see each other much, very rarely spoke
Wish I could be with you – wish I could’ve been
All the years, all the miles, just lost in the wind
Brothers have a history and a bond we call our own
Brothers are still connected even when alone
No others can share the memories that we hold
Brothers, two spirits made from the very same mold
Hard lives and tough times, you may call it a curse
But at least we got each other and could do a whole lot worse
Raised to learn to keep a distance from each other
But now we are learning just how to be brothers
So much time to make up for, seems like such a shame
Let’s not waste any more, lets’ not search for a blame
Brothers don’t need to worry to try and fit in
Others don’t need to know where we have been
Brothers can tell each other anything they want to
Brothers can lean on the other as much as they need to
[Bridge]
I know sometimes we ain’t got much to say
Other times there’s so much pain, that seems to get in the way
But when we connect on a level - deep and pure
Brothers find the words when others can say no more
*Guitar Solo*
I know when I left to set out on my own
How much that must’ve hurt you, right on down to the bone
I hope you know the reasons why I could not stay
I hope you know I have regrets to this very day
Wish I could be with you, wish I could’ve been
People come and go but forever we are kin
Brothers find a way to make things alright
While others seem like ships passing in the night
Brothers can come together after some time
Brothers age well just like a fine wine
Brothers….
