An ancient (no pun intended) song resurrected for Anubis Spire's "A Single A Month - 2016" project.
WALLS OF TROY is a song written many years ago by Anubis Spire songwriter / guitarist, Bill MacKechnie and now finally recorded with the help of A.S. drummer Fred DeRuvo, as the first release of the band's new 'singles' every remaining month of 2016 program. Though markedly different from their usual material, it still bears the band's signature sound and approach. The singles program allows the band's various songwriters and musicians to release sonically different material. Each release will be an adventure! Stay tuned....
WALLS OF TROY
Do you remember me
Well I remember you
Took so long to get so free
Recall all that we've been through
I know you feel confused
But if you look into my eyes
You'll see that it's all true
And you'll start to realize
This forgetfulness
It keeps us in our cages
And this star crossed love
It keeps breaking our hearts
But this is not a new book
It's just a few more pages
And there's nothing here
Can keep us apart
'Cause this time we won't be denied
'Cause here I am again
Here I am again
Outside the walls of troy
Do you see what I see
Well the clouds they fade away
And it sure seems to me
It's gonna be a sunny day
I can remember when
That sunlight was in your hair
And it takes me back to then
And I'm longing to be there
This forgetfulness
It keeps us in our cages
And this star crossed love
It keeps breaking our hearts
I have loved you darlin'
Down through the ages
And there's nothing now
Can keep us apart
'Cause this time I won't be denied
'Cause here I am again
Here I am again
Outside the walls of troy
And in a little while
I'm coming in...
