The Rain Bird sings in all kinds of weather. It sings of love, anger, beauty, joy and sadness. It sings to no one but itself. Expecting no answers to it's song, except the wind and rain.
Another long, self-indulgent song, written about the very people who will never even hear it. A 8 minute piece that has turned out to be one of my favorites of all the songs I've written this year.
Recorded with that live, raw feel, with the sound of real rain and birds singing throughout the entire song (captured live as I recorded it)
I call out into the cyberworld
Where millions of voices can be heard
But when I listen to see if my plea is returned
I only hear the quiet echo of the Rain Bird
I'm used to the silence now
I no longer wait for answers
It doesn't matter anyhow
I stopped dreaming of second chances
Oh the Rain Bird's flying away
On this cold and windy day
I had hoped that it might stay
It really doesn't matter anyway
Oh the Rain Bird's flown away
The Rain Bird has no song to sing
And it's not like anyone stops to listen
The same words have a familiar ring
Tears mix with the Rain Bird glistens
I'm used to the silence now
I no longer wait for answers
It doesn't matter anyhow
I stopped dreaming of second chances
Oh the Rain Bird's flying away
On this cold and windy day
I had hoped that it might stay
It really doesn't matter anyway
Oh the Rain Bird's flown away
This Cyberworld treats me the same
Just like in the real world, I've been burned
I can call out again and again
But the answers fade into diminished returns
I'm used to the silence now
I no longer wait for answers
It doesn't matter anyhow
I stopped dreaming of second chances
(Repeat CHORUS)
No time for this, no rhymes for that
Did you even notice what I sent your way
I tried for hits, but they all fell flat
At least that's what you and the Rain Bird say
I'm used to the silence now
I no longer wait for answers
It doesn't matter anyhow
I stopped dreaming of second chances
Oh the Rain Birds flying away
On the notes of the song I played
Of the song I was hoping you'd say
Something nice, something okay
But it doesn't matter anyway
The Rain Birds flown away
