Story behind the song
I play with the Turtle Creek Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Ian Nie. He seeks to add original works from local composers to the repertoire and has agreed to play this with the Orchestra. Thanks Ian!
"Sunday Gravy" is a hearty dish prepared over many hours and enjoyed by family and friends. This song tells the story of a family at the dinner table, discussing this and that with each family member speaking in a familiar but distinct voice. It must be their loud dinner conversation because there's at once harmony and also tension but after all is said and done, dinner is concluded on a major chord!
