Story behind the song
I'm very interested in the concept of "Time", and believe that it ties in with new-age spirituality. I recently read an article in a science magazine where some theoretical physicists believe that the concept of time does not exist. I also read several books about the concept of time and came away with the belief that "Time" is, among other things, part of God, and vice-versa.
Lyrics
A monkey wrench has to first be thrown To screw up the plans you had in mind You get a sense that it’s blown And nothing can ever make it right And when that scare you had is enough to change your life That single moment when your memories flash before your eyes Raining on Sunday, lightning streaks across the sky Praying that someday, all the stars will become aligned. It starts to make some sense You don’t seem quite as tense When there’s hope in your eyes Nature is my religion, her miracles are everywhere you look Respect is the only condition, don’t have to follow any rulebook If you ask me to tell you about my God I don’t know all she is, but I know what she’s not. Raining on Sunday, lightning streaks across the sky Praying that someday, all the stars will become aligned. It starts to make some sense You don’t seem quite as tense When there’s hope in your eyes With or without faith, life happens while you’re wasting time Looking for answers that you can never hope to find I read in a science digest, an equation with no equal sign Now some say they no longer believe in time God is time, Time is God God is time, Time is God Raining on Sunday, I hear the music of the wind and rain Wondering if someday I can write a song that feels the same If there is no time at all, then why won’t the rhythm stall? That brings joy to your eyes That brings joy to your eyes That brings joy to your eyes Raining on Sundays Raining on Sundays
