This song is about the bible story from the Resurrection through to Pentecost and beyond. Could be used at the Pentecost church service or with children during religious education.
The original inspiration came from the movie "Lilies of the Field" where Sidney Poitier and the nuns sing "Amen", the story of Jesus from His birth to the Resurrection. This song is meant to pick up where "Amen" left off and reflect on how everyone might have been feeling during those next 50 days.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN
4/14/2014
EVERYONE / CANTOR
What are we to do my brothers, what are we to do
What are we to do my sisters, how could this be, how could this be
Bewildered / In the Upper Room
Astounded / With our Mother Mary
What does this mean / For nine long days
Bewildered / Walking to Emmaus
Astounded / Disciple hearts are burning
What does this mean / With the broken bread
Bewildered / He’s walking through the front door
Astounded / Saying “peace be with you”
What does this mean / Raised, just like He said
What are we to do my brothers, what are we to do
What are we to do my sisters, how could this be, how could this be
Bewildered / Here He comes again
Astounded / Thomas, do you believe
What does this mean / “My Lord and my God”
Bewildered / Forty days of teaching
Astounded / Then He ascended
What does this mean / Waiting on the Spirit
Bewildered / Wind started blowing
Astounded / Fire started falling
What does this mean / Three thousand cut to the heart
What are we to do my brothers, what are we to do
What are we to do my sisters, how could this be, how could this be
I have hope / Breaking bread daily
I have faith / Sharing their possessions
& the love of the Lord / Living in communion
I have hope / Hallelujah
I have faith / Proclaim His coming
& the love of the Lord / With us forever
Hallelujah / Amen
Hallelujah / Amen
ALL
Amen
