Started off at Line 1 with a track about racism in mind, and it sort of morphed into being more about anyone that people tend to gloss over and ignore in life.
I recently got jipped by Centrelinke again, and it got me thinking, how many others have fallen between the cracks because people just gloss over them without a second thought?
There's a kid down the road, and he aint ever had a home/
He's been slingin mary jane, it's as good as home grown/
you get stoned like a b*** , and when you're sleepin on the couch/
Ya best mate comes around and steals all your money from the pouch/
It's pretty messed up the way you fall between the cracks/
they even got debates on if a kid deserves the smack/
I never copped a hit, but I grew up a little off/
everything in moderation, from the ponies to the pot/
When the sun is blotted out, and when the air ceases to flow/
when the ocean never waves, and the flowers never grow/
I'll be smilin in the breeze, in the days of summerland/
while I play the drums to an eternal marching band/
I am not a stable guy, but with a mic within my grasp/
The kind of sh** I speak, makes the dalai lama gasp/
lay down all the cards, and this much you can bet/
You'll never be alone, I'll be in your silhouette/
HOOK
I gave a burger to a man, when my name was not my own/
The smile was enlightened, even tho he had no home/
I'm not a good man, even when I try to be/
I'm like the blind saviour, who never wants to see/
coz it's blind that lead the blind, in the land of make believe/
We're always askin not to give, coz we're wantin to recieve/
We take action on another, for the things that they deserve/
basic rights and freedoms, that the rich seem to reserve/
I ain't no goddamn martyr, I'm as bad as any man/
I got dreams, desires, and a normal lifespan/
back inside my head, there's a devil burning hot/
So I'm tippin' back the bottle, pour myself another shot/
A world of medication for a land without a cure/
Why do we give away, everything we can't afford?/
Money for the needy, never sees the light of day/
Always stickin to the waste, where the greedy steal their way/
HOOK
I've seen the darkest night, and I have never been afraid/
I've been burning in the light, and in the light I have now stayed/
This is for the forgotten, the ones who are unseen/
the criminals mistaken, and the victims unbelieved/
for the lonely widow who lost her husband in iraq/
the aussie government really doesn't give a f*** /
for the orphaned child without a dinner or a smile/
I'll always be open for you to come in for a while/
The brony all alone, fitting neither of the crowds/
The whovian outgrown, dissed for not knowing the old/
We fall between the cracks, like we're falling out of time/
Not every single rapper knows the truth behind their rhymes/
So this is for the lost, the forgotten and the mocked/
The rappers never made, and the punks that never rocked/
the world may have ignored but know that you are hallowed/
For what protects you in the dark, is hidin in your shadow/
