Tracy Keeney, Tracy Rivest, Country and Contemporary Christian music
Hello and Welcome!! My name is Tracy Keeney (Rivest) and I'm a songwriter writing mostly Contemporary Christian and Country music and dabbling in sacred choral works as well. I'm a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association, and am registered with BMI. Since several people have emailed me asking about a CD, I thought I'd take this opportunity to explain why I don't have one. Though I did write and sing the songs on my site, these are actually just "demos". But, if you hear a hear a guy singing-- yeah, that's not me :) UPDATE: Julie Burton did the vocals on Tapestry of Life. LOVE her voice! Demos like these are what I send to the record labels. Then hopefully, we sign a publishing contract, and one of their artists record a song and put it on THEIR CD. For example, the demo here for "It's Still Your Hand" was recorded and produced in Nashville by Galen Breen. My co-writer, Steve Anderson and I then sent the demo to Lamon Records, and one of their gospel artists, Sheila Albritton recorded it, and put it on her latest CD, "Faith In Time". I'm really not interested in the performing/gigging side of music, having to promote myself, etc, so I'd rather have someone ELSE record one of my songs and put it on their CD. And actually, I did the travelling/touring thing with a band back when I was 19 and single. I'm 40 now, and married with 4 kids. My happy butt wants to stay home! Eventually, I WILL put a CD together of me singing my songs. But right now, I still have about 30 songs that have yet to be professionally demoed. Once I have a good 10-12 songs done, I'll put them on CD. A heartfelt and sincere THANK YOU to all those who've been so supportive! My sweet husband William and our incredible children, Sara, James, Mary and Emma; my mother Rosemary, my brother Joe and his wife Nicole; and dear friends, Jennifer, Michael, Tom and Judy. Most especially, to a loving Father in Heaven and His Holy Son, my Savior and Redeemer, who have given me every breath, every joy, and every inspiration. What CAN I do, but SING! Tracy

Story behind the song
This whole song is true, from the first line to last---- minus ONE line. I was heading to Wal-Mart when my son started digging through my purse looking for a quarter for the gumball machine. He noticed the date on a dime and we ended up having a discussion that turned into a song the very next day. And since everyone always asks the same question after hearing the song... No, he didn't really break up with me in the rain, it was WORSE! He broke up with me 10 minutes after getting home from the PROM!! But that didn't rhyme! (So "You know who you are", was I THAT bad a dancer? He he he -- Just kiddin' We're cool! :)
Lyrics
"Memory Lane" Music and Lyrics by Tracy Keeney Guitar: Doug "Bronco" Collins Violin: Craig Sowby Piano & Vocals: Tracy Keeney Just an ordinary trip to the grocery store Suddenly turned to something more As my 8 year old studied the face of a dime. He said, "Man, this is old! 1975! I bet you and Daddy weren't even alive!" And I laughed outloud as I pondered the passage of time. "Son, in '75 I was in 3rd grade" And soon I found myself driving down Memory Lane. On Memory Lane I can still see my house And the sandbox where I used to play. My favorite teacher, my first double feature At the drive-in off Old 58 I can reach back and touch yesterday When I'm driving down Memory Lane My son said "1984, Mom, how old were you then?" "Well I was turning 16, and swearin' never again To give away my heart, my first love had torn it in two. I was playing the flute in the high school band Trying hard to fit in but learning firsthand Just to be myself, 'cause I really had nothing to prove." The memories were falling like a pouring rain They flooded my heart as I drove down Memory Lane. On Memory Lane I remember my first date, the pain and the heart- ache When he broke up with me in the rain. I was learning to drive with my father beside me. I was screaming at each football game. I can reach back and touch yesterday When I'm driving down Memory Lane. And son, twenty years from now you might be talking with your kids When out of nowhere you'll remember this drive and the day we talked about this On Memory Lane I remember your Daddy, that night as he held me And asked me if I'd be his bride. I remember that mornin', the day you were born And your father's face beaming with pride. I can reach back and touch yesterday When I'm driving down Memory lane We're making new memories today That we'll one day look back on, the next time we're driving on Memory Lane
