Story behind the song
My oldest brother, four years my junior, was my very first music buddy. Our Dad taught him how to play guitar when he was around 8 or 9 years old and later we both developed the love of writing songs when we were in our twenties. Fools and Angels is one that he and I tinkered around with back in the late 60' but didn't get very far on it due to having the problem of wrapping our heads around the concept of 'fools' verses 'angels'. I guess we never got over it either, because it wasn't until 2008 that this one finally got it wings. However, it wasn't my brother who helped me to complete it. My brother passed in 2004. After I joined an online songwriters forum in 2008 and read and listened to the songs posted there by my co-partner on this one, I knew he was the person that I would like to have help me complete it. So I asked and he graciously agreed. Recently my son, Danny, completed the finishing touches on the music and vocals for us. Thanks again, Roy and Danny, it means so much to me to see this one, at long last, up on the boards.
