Happy pop song about paranoia
A song about PARANOIA for paranoid times. Keep things in perspective! Stop blaming the universe! It's your job to make things better.
Really wanted to get the "paralyze, paradise, terrorize" imagery in in response to the highway signs in my state that read: "Report suspicious activity."
Vocal inspiration was "Burning Ring of Fire"-era Johnny Cash, with a little "Pictures of Lily"-era Who thrown in. All the backing vocals are delivered with a Cash-esque/Elvis comeback drawl.
Heedless, headless
Here we go!
Heedless, headless
I don't know.
It's just a walk downtown
(down and out)
It's just a walk downtown
(underground)
It's just a walk downtown
(Take a train.)
It's just a walk downtown
(Ease your brain!)
Reckless, senseless
Hard to take.
Reckless, senseless
Gotta change.
It's just a soul on fire.
(Put it out.)
It's just a soul on fire.
(You bring me down.)
It's just a soul on fire.
('Til you see)
It's just a soul on fire.
(that you're just like me.)
Waiting in the fire you started
for someone to pull you out.
Waiting for the undertaker
to come calling at your house.
Blame the things that terrorize you.
Blame the things that paralize.
Blame the blameless, nameless, faceless,
heedless, headless
Paradise!
It's just a soul on fire.
(Put it out.)
It's just a soul on fire.
(You bring me down.)
It's just a soul on fire.
('Til you see)
It's just a soul on fire.
(that you're just like me.)
Heedless, headless
paralyzed.
Heedless, headless
Paradise.
Heedless, headless
paralyzed.
Heedless, headless
Paradise!
