The song is metaphorical, but it has a great groove, I think.
Well, I was thinking about how Cinderella reminds me of the redemption, Christ coming for his church. Then I was thinking about how impractical glass slippers are. The two things have an uneasy alliance, but I was thinking of the fact that the church is Christ's body on earth. Sometimes the churches' focus can be on the beauty of it's own gifts - its glass slippers. Whereas, Christ calls us to be involved in ministry and that can't be done by fragile people, afraid to get their feet dirty or to walk in tough places. Yeah, I know, it's kind of strange.
Glass Slippers
Hey there, Cinderella
Will you be my girl?
Would you come out of,
The ashes tonight?
You could be my lady,
You could be my bride,
I could take you to,
The Kingdom of Light.
But you just stare,
At your footwear:
- Glass slippers.
Hey there, Ia019m your fella,
And I gave the world,
Would you listen,
Will you get it right?
I could be your husband,
I could be your king,
You could walk with me,
In robes of white.
But you just stare,
At your footwear:
- Glass slippers.
Glass slippers are something that you put on your feet,
But not if youa019re trying to keep a beat,
The splinters would kind of hurt you there,
And, besides, theya019re not really winter wear.
Listen, Cinderella,
If you get a chance,
Youa019re invited to
The cosmic dance.
Youa019ve an gotta invitation,
But you must come clean,
You could be there,
If you know what I mean,
And if you like,
You could weara026
