Story behind the song
This song was written after visiting a friend who was having trouble moving on after a broken relationship. His stereo was flashing 12 o'clock and I thought it was an apt metaphor for his state of mind at the time.
Lyrics
Pull back the curtain and take a little peek I haven't been to work in well over a week A pile of newspaper sits out on the walk and my mind keeps flashing 12 o'clock The thoughts in my head make it hard to think so I pour another reefer and roll another drink and try to figure out what caused my world to rock but my mind keeps flashing 12 o'clock Do unto others as you would have them do unto you my friend There will be others Someone that you can love to the end Love to the end So go on and tear my heart apart 'cause I can see you're one well versed in the art and I'm finding it hard just to chew gum and walk when my mind keeps flashing 12 o'clock
