THIS COMPOSITION WAS CONCEIVED FOR A YOUNGER BAND, BUT IS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE WRITTEN BY WILLIAM F. MCBETH. IT WAS INSPIRED BY AN OLD PROTESTANT HYMN, WHICH IS HEARD FOR A FEW SECONDS. PERFORMED BY THE 1980 TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY CONCERT BAND.
William Francis McBeth (b. 1933) is Professor of Music, Resident Composer and Chairman of the Theory-Composition Department at Ouachita University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He has received professional training at Hardin-Simmons University, University of Texas, and the Eastman School of Music. He is Conductor Emeritus of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and was appointed Composer Laureate of Arkansas in 1975. He has studied with numerous other composers, including Clifton Williams and Howard Hanson. McBeth has received numerous awards for his works for media, choral, chamber, orchestra, and band.
