Some thoughts about the mess we're in today, the greed, the debt, and how to get out.
Just the name 'Madoff' had me laughing the other day, and I sat down to write a light-hearted protest song of sorts to express my frustration with the whole system and the 'bailouts and stimuluses'.
Please forgive my aside to poke fun at the mess we've made of... well, everything.
Dreamworld
(C)2009 Christopher M Solaas
It's getting hard to read the news
It seems to just give me the blues
Every time I open up and read
Every time I open up and read
We're bailing out these greedy banks,
We go in debt and get no thanks,
The money never reaches those in need
It never reaches those in need!
Jobless millions, bankrupt nations,
Churches, states and corporations,
Just about to close their doors for good!
While our Congress fights pollution,
We all search for a solution
To this 'money mess' we're in,
Not a bit of which I understand!
Chorus:
But I'm living in a Dreamworld
Where people understand!
They all spend less than they make,
A lot more 'give', a lot less 'take',
And neighbors lend a helping hand
Where people say 'How are you?'
And they WAIT to hear the truth,
And they might even pray for you.
You might think it's just a dream,
But it will be reality
When Jesus comes to reign in you!
Someday, we'll all be of one mind
We'll share with others all the time
And never turn someone in need away!
And never turn someone away!
Someday there will be no more poor
You'll never have to lock your door
But that isn't what I see in life today!
It isn't what I see in life today!
I read of wars in far-off places
We're all called 'cowards' to our faces
No one seems to know just who to blame!
Some guy named 'Madoff' with the money!
I just think that whole thing's funny!
Well, gimme a break, just check the name!
Chorus:
