This is performed at the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan by High School Symphonic Band #3. Our director was Robert H. Reynolds. I played 1st b-flat clarinet.
Folk Dances is a festive and spirited single-movement work composed in Shostakovitch's light-hearted style. As stated in the score, the piece is "filled with the joy and exuberance of the Russian people." The first version of this work was composed for Russian bands.
